HS Math Teacher + Sex + Student = Jail Time

Melissa Gayle Monroe, a high school math teacher at Bentonville High School was arrested for teaching an 18-year old student (possibly on his birthday) not only how to add and subtract but also how to get drunk and have sex with her… or as I like to call it, “adult” education.

Zing!

According to the Bentonville popo department, under Arkansas law, it is a crime for a public school teacher to engage in sexual contact with a student younger than 21.

Looks like Professor Monroe, a wife and mother of three (which makes this even worse), thought she was being slick by sleeping with an “adult” student. She probably should have done some research before she got the dude drunk and got busy.

Monroe told a fellow teacher, who in turn told the cops, about her “extracurricular activies” with the student via text message saying that she had “done something she couldn’t believe she had done.” Yeah, Ms. Monroe, you shouldn’t have texted another teacher to tell her you boned the kid in the third row in your geometry class. What did you think would happen?

KFSM reported that Monroe allegedly sent one on Valentine’s Day that read: “Help! I’ve made the worst decision of my life. And I don’t know what to do.” Another said, “I really can’t believe I’m in this situation. I was drunk. But “blank” it was good. I’m in a real mess.” Then later, “IDK[I don't know] at least he was legal. Haha.

Haha, huh? I bet she was laughing all the way to jail. Good job.

Monroe is now facing a second-degree sexual assault, which is a Class B felony and punishable by five to 20 years in prison.

“But “blank” it was good. I’m in a real mess.”

Apparently the blank was just a damn. I’m so disappointed.

This dude is 18 for god’s sake. Why is this a crime? Is it grounds for termination? Certainly. But it should not be illegal for any adult to bang another adult as long as both parties are willing.

i think that what people are saying is rediculous.. who are you to judge her? how would you feel if you made a mistake like that and everyone was sayin all that **** about you.. i mean, she feels bad enough. i know Mrs. Monroe on a personal level, and i honestly think she is one of the most amazing people ive ever met. i had her as a math teacher in the 9th grade, and she took time to help me with things i didnt understand.. she also got me some professional help with counselors because of some of the things that were going on in my life at that point and time. great people sometimes make some not so great decisions.. dont we all? but its what you choose to make of the situation after it happens that really defines you.. and know Mrs. Monroe, and i know she will pull out of this, and she will do everything in her power to get back on track. i hate it that none of you know her.. you are just gullible enough to beleive everything that people say on websites like these.. yes she made a mistake, and its already going to change her whole life and completely turn every aspect of it around.. she doesnt need yalls help with all that.

No one is exempt from making mistakes. When we learn from them and change our thinking and behavior, we have to encourage one another; not tear them down and try to keep them down. Mrs. Monroe knew and admitted to a peer that she had made a mistake. I think that she deserves the opportunity to show the changes in her life. Hang in there Melissa. jwmarchant@hughes.net
