Arkansas Can’t Get Over the Hump

Arkansas continues to frustrate the living crap out of it’s fans (imagine what their coach is going through) with its complete inability to win on the road.

As they have all season, Arkansas followed up a great performance at home against a very talented Vanderbilt team by getting out-toughed, and overall outplayed by an Ole Miss team on the road at Oxford Tuesday night, right in front of ESPN, and everybody.

Notably absent from the game Tuesday night was Arkansas’s leading scorer this year, Sonny Weems, who showed up with about 2 minutes left in the game. Weems did not start the game for the first time I can remember all year, and never got it going for an Arkansas team that desperately needed him.

Equally frustrating was the fact that the game was supposed to be aired in it’s entiretly by ESPN, when in actuality Arkansas fans only got to see about half of it. That’s because the Ohio State / Purdue matchup that preceeded the Arkansas game on ESPN ran way over, further proof that ESPN hates Arkansas.

Arkansas better hope that someone loves them, namely the NCAA selection commitee. I still think they have to win at home against Auburn on Saturday, and at least one game in the SEC tournament to secure a bid to the NCAA tourney this year.

And, I hate to say this as well, but I’m three for three so far on the predictions I made three games ago. I really hope I’m wrong about the rest of season.

You gotta hand it to the Hogs… all season they’ve put on a clinic of how NOT to get yourself into the big dance and land squarely on the bubble.
