Flyer Profile: American Princes

If you live in or near Little Rock Arkansas, we strongly advise you to run for your lives. Especially around April 15th of this year.

That’s because we expect shortly thereafter, Little Rock band American Princes are about to blow the heck up.

The American Princes are one of Arkansas’ most talented bands, and their long awaited fourth album Other People will hit stores, and iPods everywhere on the 15th or April, or tax day, of this year.

We’ve heard the record, and we think it’s the best yet. We’re equally excited about the fact that they’ll be playing in town this weekend, at the O.P.O. with Catfish Haven and the Good Fear on Sunday night, March 9th.

We got in touch with Matt and Will this week, and they were kind enough en answer some questions for us.

Fayetteville Flyer: What are you guys listening to lately?
Matt: Most recently I guess would be the new Nada Surf record.
Will: Patrick Sweany, The Night Marchers

FF: We’ve heard some of the stuff from the new record, and we have to admit, it excites us (sexually). How’s it coming along?
Matt: Set to go. April 15th. Tax day.

FF: Word on the street is that the new record is somewhat of a new direction for the band. How (in general) will Other People differ from Less and Less?
Matt: I think Chuck was able to help us kind of fully realize and hone the more pop aspects of our sound. Does that make sense?
Will: The addition of a kickass beard and sleighbells

FF: You guys are playing South by Southwest this year. Anyone you’re excited about seeing there?
Matt: Just heard the Breeders will be there. If we weren’t playing six shows in two days I would’ve loved to catch ‘em.
Will: The Night Marchers

FF: What’s the most embarrassing album in your iTunes library / collection?
Matt: Corey Hart’s greatest hits. He’s the Canadian Elvis, y’know.
Will: Alabama’s Greatest Hits

FF: Do you like our website? (yes, no, or maybe)
Will: It looks nice and i like all the swear words. Seems very informative for the good people of Fayetteville.
Matt: Love the website. I’m with Will, I caught an H and F bomb or two. Ah, profanity, the spice of language.

Ok. So maybe we were fishing for those compliments just a little. But still. The American Princes like us. That has to give us a little bit of cred. Right?
