Arkansas got significant contributions from some unlikely sources today, and probably secured an NCAA bid while beating number # 17 Vanderbilt 81-75.
Darian Townes and Gary Ervin led the team with 18 points a piece, and reserves Charles Thomas and Stephan Welsh chipped in 13 and 11 to offset leading scorers Patrick Beverly and Sonny Weems combining for only 14 points.
Arkansas has now beaten Vandervilt four times in a row. Screw you Vandy.
Things aren’t going to get any easier tomorrow for the Hogs, as Arkansas was lucky enough to draw 4th ranked Tennessee. Awesome.
One positive for the Razorbacks is that Tennessee had their hands full today as well just squeaking by South Carolina today 89-87. Fayetteville Flyer correspondents in Atlanta will be partying above Chris Lofton’s hotel room for most of the night, as well as making wake up calls to his room every hour tonight to be sure that he is good and tired.
I predicted Arkansas would go one and done in the SEC tourney, and miss the NCAA, but I was thankfully wrong. I think no matter what happens now, Arkansas punched their dance card today. Basically, as Jones pointed out in the comments of this post, our brackets are screwed. Boo-yah?
