It was certainly a busy weekend on the Razorback NFL Draft front. Two former Hogs were taken in the 1st round followed by one in the 3rd and three more in the 7th. Finally, two more Razorbacks were signed as free agents yesterday making a total of 8 former Arkansas athletes who are on their way to the National Football League.

Below is a brief recap of the whos whens and wheres as well as what the analysts are saying.

Player: Darren McFadden, RB
Drafted by: Oakland Raiders
Round Drafted: 1st (4th overall pick)
ESPN says: “McFadden gives them the big-play threat they lack at the position.”

Player: Felix Jones, RB
Drafted by: Dallas Cowboys
Round Drafted: 1st (22nd overall pick)
ESPN says: “Jerry Jones may not have gotten Darren McFadden, but he did get an Arkansas running back.”

Player: Marcus Harrison, DT
Drafted by: Chicago Bears
Round Drafted: 3rd (90th overall pick)
ESPN says: “He has good quickness for his size and he shows good lateral ability scraping down the line of scrimmage. “

Player: Nate Garner, OT
Drafted by: New York Jets
Round Drafted: 7th (211th overall pick)
ESPN says: “Garner is big enough to engulf defensive ends and he can drive defenders off the ball. “

Player: Peyton Hillis, FB
Drafted by: Denver Broncos
Round Drafted: 7th (227th overall pick)
ESPN says: “He is a versatile athlete who is a technician and gives good effort as a blocker.”

Player: Marcus Monk, WR
Drafted by: Chicago Bears
Round Drafted: 7th (248th overall pick)
ESPN says: “He has great size and ran better than expected at the combine. Monk is a high-character guy who works hard. “

Matterral Richardson, CB to the Washington Redskins
Michael Grant, FS to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If Marcus Monk would have redshirted last season and played this season, injury free, I think he would have gone a lot higher in next years draft.

No doubt JTrain. Monk would have had the new and improved (READ:coached) Casey Dick throwing the ball all around. As it is, he better impress or we’ll see him in Cananda.
