Razorback guitars can continue wailing
Everybody knows that the Razorback is a sacred beast around here. So much so that you can’t even use the word “razorback” without having to fork over some dough to the University of Arkansas. (There goes my tax-relief check)
It doesn’t matter if your use of the word has any connection to our sports teams either. You could open up a “Razorback Laundry Zone” or the “Razorback Laser Tag Bar & Grill” and still have to face the wrath of the UA general counsel. Hell, even if you went so far as to produce a “USA Rebel Razorback” electric guitar as a tribute to the late Pantera guitar badass Dimebag Darrell, you’re still obligated to share your profits with the suits on the hill.
However, thanks to a trademark lawsuit settlement yesterday, the Dean-branded Razorback guitar line can continue to rock the balls off of metal fans worldwide. Even those who like their metal to be slightly totally dixie-flavored. Or desert camo, explosion and even skull-flavored.
In the suit, UA argued that use of the “word mark” Razorback implied a connection to UA’s sports teams. By the defendants using the word without permission, they were erroneously suggesting their products are endorsed and affiliated with UA, the suit claimed.
You know, the teams with flaming, skull-ridden, camouflage rebel flag jerseys. Those teams.
Here at the Flyer, we’re glad this thing is finally settled. We’d hate for our local university to upset the Dimebag fanbase. Some of them can be pretty obsessive.

That picture of ‘DimeBag’ isn’t disturbing in the slightest…in the slightest…at all … really

This just in:
C.C. Deville’s “Volunteer” Model B.C. Rich does not infringe on Tennessee’s trademark.
Glad we got a bad-ass like Dime Bag repping the UA, he could kick C.C.’s ass, still. Even if he is dead.

That pic reminds me of NBA JAM, tournament edition, NBA Jam T.E. to be exact.
