Going into the football season this year, the biggest question mark for Bobby Petrino’s Hogs was going to be the linebacking core.
And that was before the recent developments.
Freddy Fairchild, Petrino’s most talented and most experienced linebacker was arrested in a domestic battery case, was dismissed from the team altogether last month. Then, Freddy Burton was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of DWI charges. Bobby Petrino hadn’t even had a change to deal with him yet, when Tuesday at 12:30, Wendel Davis, another Razorback linebacker got in trouble with the law. Davis faces criminal mischief charges after a road rage incident in which his scooter was rear-ended, and he allegedly proceeded to beat the crap out of some dude’s Nissan Altima.
To add injury to insult, Davis hurt his hand in the process.
At this rate, we’d better hope Bobby Petrino’s offense is all it’s been advertised to be. That’s because the Hogs will be extremely thin at one of the most important positions on defense, linebacker. And if we can’t stop anyone, maybe we can outscore them.
Just a quick PSA, if you’re a current Razorback linebacker, and you’re thinking about selling some drugs, or beating your girlfriend, or beating the shit out of someone’s car, please, for the love of Razorback football, don’t do it.
More than ever now, we’re really gonna need you. Thanks in advance.

What will Petrino do about this? Will he punish both Burton and Davis as a means of saying, “I will not take any crap at all” or will he go easy on them in order to keep from completely draining our depth? Interesting indeed.

Can you win in the SEC without linebackers? Nope.

I heard on the radio this morning the Razorbacks are considering a 7-0-4 defensive alignment. It was a joke.
At least I think it was a joke.

This is stellar news. Just stellar. Who the hell says “stellar?”
