Free school supplies at Asbell

I don’t know about you, but I always thought heading out for school supplies was one the sweetest things about elementary school. It made the end of summer vacation a little bit less stressful. In fact, the only stress involved was trying to decide between the green lazers-n-squigglies Trapper Keeper or the one with the F-14 Tomcat (w/ trailing smoke).

As part of Asbell Elementary’s federally funded Title I program expenditures, Principal LaTayna Greene decided to devote about $15,000 towards supplies for all the school’s students this year. Nice!

But as happy as the parents are gonna be about this, the kids are sure to revolt. That is, unless there are plenty of badicool-looking folders and pencils in store come August 6th.

I seriously doubt Trapper Keepers are still legit amongst most 5th graders. Same goes for chocolate-scented erasers. I could be wrong, though. Anybody know what’s cool these days? Let me guess, Bluetooth rulers with digital readouts?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let me get this straight, Ted Dancin’. You had a hard time choosing between the green lazers-n-squigglies Trapper Keeper or the one with the F-14 Tomcat (w/ trailing smoke)? The F-14 is the obvious choice, dude.

I think licensed notebooks, pencils, folders etc are pretty cool still. I see a lot of Camp Rock, High School Musical and Hannah Montana stuff this year. I still like Hello Kitty, but I am 32 and still get a thrill from a new pack of pens or more importantly, a new pack of Sharpies.

I have to say I think i would have been a lazers kinda kid, or Ghostbusters if available.
