Three 6 Mafia is coming to town
Local pimps who know how hard it is out here will gather en masse at the Fayetteville Town Center come September 19th October 24th and collectively sip the hell out of some sizzurp with the Three 6 Mafia.
Do hwa? Did I just write the words “Three 6 Mafia” and “Fayetteville Town Center” in the same sentence?
Um. Well. Let’s see here. Actually, I have no idea what to write next.
Here, I’ll just brainstorm for a minute: Triple Six (666). Tim’s Pizza on the square. Town Center has a stage? Old Post Office. Memphis. Koopsta. Crunchy Black. Academy Award. Hustle & Flow. Smoked Out, Loced Out. Stogie’s.
Uh. Yeah, that’s not helping at all. Howzabout I just let you guys do the talkin’.

Town Center doesn’t so much have a stage as it does a big open room. Organizers think they can get 2,200 people in the venue.

Looks like Hutch Entertainment specializes in bringing washed up one hit wonderZ to second rate venues.
I can’t really imagine this being the kind of activity the Town Center needs.
The square thrives on its quaintness and laid back atmosphere.
A rap show will bring a pretty lowlife element to the square.
At least its only for one night.
Hope no one gets shot.

I think it’s awesome. I’ve heard their live show is pretty much they smoke a lot of weed and kind of hang out on stage while their record plays in the background, but still, I think a hip-hop show in Fayetteville is a great idea.

I am looking forward to seeing the hard livin’ local pimps
By Beebs on August 1st, 2008
Isn’t this the second time they’ve been to town in the past few years? Fayetteville town center is probably the most gangsta place to have them play.

What a train wreck. They should just go all out and have an after party with the frisbee golfers at Tim’s.
By kasey on August 1st, 2008
I agree with the steve, I am happy to see any hip hop come here
By pax on August 1st, 2008
I really hope they perform the “Ass and Titties” mega-mix! That shit is off the hook, yo!
I always had a theory that the town center was going to be a place for the old hippies of F-town to get together and smoke out, but I don’t think that this what they were thinking. They be takin thiz shit to another level.

By the way, their new track “I’d Rather” is actually pretty good.
It has a line in it “She made my dick stand like Kareem Abdul Jabbar.” You don’t just come up with that off the top of your head.
But really, it’s well produced stuff.

Beebs- From what I understand, they were here about two years ago. It was a private party at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house, during UA Row Week.
TB - And I’m not sure I’d call Three 6 Mafia washed up. They’ve got some traction from their television show, and, while a bit underground, I’d have to say I expect them to be a pretty big draw.
By JTrain on August 1st, 2008
Hell yes!!! Why all the trash talk? Don’t forget that these dudes are Academy Award winners… not that that means anything, though. I mean, Gladiator won best picture in 2000.
Anyway, this rules! These guys are ridiculous and I hope to make it to the show.

Ok, I am just old.
You kids and your loud music.
Try not to break anything while you’re down there doing the Twist, or the Bird or whatever damn fool shenanigans it is you kids do these days.
I’ll be sippin beer at the OMS in the garden with the rest of the geriatrics.
But at least I won’t get into a fight.

I consulted with my brother who has actually seen the Trip-Six in concert and he said that they put on a hell of a show. Pyros, strippers, the whole shebang. We both have some questions about how that will translate to the Town Center, though. He saw them at Memphis in May on the main stage a number of years ago which is a totally different scene than The Square.
If anything, I think it will end up being a bunch of high school wanna-be-gangstas from Gravette with airsoft pistols packed in their sagging JNCO’s.
However, Kornedog would fit right in if he showed up wearing that sweater I got for him a while back…

the steve is right - i went to their cd release party a few years ago & they just lip synched to a cassette player on stage. there were like 20 people up on stage just standing around, smoking blunts. actually, there were more people on stage than in the audience. maybe they try a little harder now that they have an oscar?
By Beebs on August 1st, 2008
pax makes a good point. The crowd that will come out for this show might be entertaining enough on it’s own.
By Total Jackass on August 1st, 2008
Total Bastard…now you’re talking. See you in the garden. Buy you a drink.
By Kornedog on August 4th, 2008
Pax makes a good point. I would fit right in if I showed up wearing that “Bugs Bunny-all-over” turtleneck sweater he got me. It’s so gangster.

Their latest album peaked at #5 on billboard, currently 33…They have one of the hottest singles out right now. Who gives a shit where it’s at, its a major act coming to Fayetteville. We could always just stick to local bands at the same old places…

im amused by totalbastard stating on a website what i specialize in. THREE SIX MAFIA “is washed up and a one hit wonder, to a second rate venue?!?!?”
are you serious? they won the ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST SONG for HUSTLE AND FLOW. They have sold several million cd’s and had the number one rated television show on all of MTV last year. Their new cd debuted at number 5 on the billboard hot 200 chart. This chart is for ALL GENRES of music. ‘TEAR DA CLUB UP”, “ITS HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP”, “RIDING SPINNERS”, “STAY FLY”, “SIPPIN ON SOME SYRUP”, “TONGUE RING”, and multiple other huge singles.
my other washed up credits include STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH, BEACHBOYS, EARTHWIND AND FIRE, LYLE LOVETT, COLLECTIVE SOUL, FAITH HILL, ALISON KRAUSS, LIT, BONETHUGSANDHARMONY, JOHN FOGERTY,REO SPEEDWAGON, JOE NICHOLS, BLAKE SHELTON, THE FUGEES, THREE DOORS DOWN, OZZY OZBOURNE AND OZZFEST, WU TANG KLAN, and MARTINA MCBRIDE.
The THREE SIX MAFIA show is a test run to see how good of a concert market Fayetteville is. If this show does well, id happily bring multiple acts of ALL GENRES of music to your fine city. I love Fayetteville and the surrounding areas and am trying to bring entertainment to your fine area. i hope that im supported in my efforts.
best

Hey Todd, good luck.
My apologies, my man.
I’m sure you are right.
I mean, afterall, your acts only play premiere venues.
Like the Fayetteville Town Center.
By Lacy on August 4th, 2008
Bring on the Alison Krauss STAT. ANYWHERE in Fayetteville is fine with me.
By JTrain on August 5th, 2008
What Ted Dancin’ said: “packed tight as balls.” The show will be big.
By todd hutchison on August 5th, 2008

Where can you get tickets at and when?
By Christina AKA Bloodweiser on September 17th, 2008
Ok…let me add a couple things. First of all, I thought Crunchy Black left the group, due to a disagreement that manifested itself during the course of their reality show. Next, doesn’t Fay Town Center always list that concerts are playing there, and then change the venue at the last second? My bet will be that they play at the track center or elsewhere, and not town center. Yes, it’s true that pot smoking, strobe lights, occasional stripping, and extremely loud music are all part of their shows. I have seen them perform 3 different times in their hometown @ Memphis in May, and I can almost bet ANYONE it will not take place in a ballroom.
By George on September 17th, 2008
It’s on a Friday night. They should be “packed tight as balls” in an extra small jock strap.
Todd - If you’re looking for credibility you probably shouldn’t mention Hootie & The Blowfish. Just fuckin with you man. I’m all about anyone trying to bring more live music to our fair city. I’d like to think that a decent size indie group could draw well here, but maybe I’m overestimating the ratio of cool people to douche bags around here. I often do that. We’ll see if George’s can even sell out Conor Oberst and Jenny Lewis next week.
By ts on September 17th, 2008
I bet the price difference between Lil Wayne and Three 6 would be around 50 grand…
By The Leprechaun on September 18th, 2008
a while back, Three 6 played Tulsa and I saw them there. the tickets were under 20 bucks and after suffering through about 2 hours of local hip hop artists, the boys took the stage…and performed for 13 minutes. since the group is now down to two guys, Paul and J just did their parts of all their hits, hyped their album and left.
now, i wasn’t TOO surprised. it WAS a cheap showcase show and i DID get to see them. yeah, i was a little disappointed, but there were definitely people who were angry. but i thought it’d present a contrast to the reports of awesome shows.
By Andrew Brannan on September 24th, 2008
I just won tickets off the radio!!! HELL YEA!!!
