Hog helmet car update: Red paint!

August 13, 2008 12:20 pm · By Todd Gill · 2 Comments

We received word this morning from Hog helmet car owner Glenn Gilbreath that “the helmet car is at the body shop being painted back red!”

In case you haven’t been keeping up, what we’re referring to is the original Hog helmet car that used to drive up and down the Razorback football field during game days. Once the astro turf was replaced with real grass, however, the car’s owner was told he’d no longer be able to bring it to the games out of fear that the field would be torn up by the 3-wheeler-turned-Hog-helmet-car.

The helmet car is now in the process of being restored and with any luck, Jeff Long will make one final dream come true for all of us long-time Hog fans and allow it back on the field for all to enjoy. At the very least, we hope to see it buzzing around outside the stadium before the games this season.

To track the status of the restoration or to make a donation, head on over to hoghelmet.com. To read our interview with owner Glenn Gilbreath, just click on these here words.

Man. That is almost as awesome as the 6th St. Chik-Fil-A. Accept the keys, Jeff Long. You’d look real good in that car.
