More bridges for Scull Creek Trail

August 18, 2008 2:33 pm · By Todd Gill · 3 Comments

Last week, Scull Creek Trail was supposed to get its final three bridges installed. Does anybody know if this happened? I rode the full length of it Sunday but couldn’t quite figure out where the heck these things are. Or maybe I did?

Two of the bridges are supposed to be near the intersection of Prospect Street and Frisco Avenue. Anybody know where Frisco Avenue is? Am I just blanking out here? Probably.

According to the NWA Times, the final bridge is “north of Van Asche Drive in the CMN Business Park.” Anybody know what/where the CMN Business Park is? Am I blanking again? Yes? Jeez. Sorry.

While riding the trail this weekend, I noticed two new bridges but they were nowhere near complete as they still needed concrete and were completely roped off. Also, the trails leading up to them weren’t finished either. I guess maybe the headline should’ve read “Final three Scull Creek Trail bridges to be installed today…to be usable sometime later?”

Who’s got the skinny? I know one of you folks does. Hit me.

The CMN Business Park consists of one office building and two billboards with the standard promises for that kind of development (“dining,” “entertainment,” “shopping,” all of it “fine” and “exciting”). It’s on the west side of the intersection halfway between Target and the new Malco Theater. Looks like the trail will run behind the office building and then meet Mud Creek Trail (where its dead end is right now). The bridge is in but not connected to what will be the trail; there were guys working on this afternoon.

Frisco Avenue runs parallel to the train tracks between Prospect and North. I saw one bridge, but there’s not much of a trail yet.

This whole thing is going to be so sweet when done. I was out on the trails today and yesterday both.

I thought, collectively, the CMN Business park consists of all the **** from Target to BW3. I believe the whole damned thing, maybe even including Wal-Mart is considered CMN, just different phases.

The trails guys are working on the crossing underneath the Fullbright Expressway already and it won’t be long…

I love Fayetteville.
