Arkansas’ own ‘Bigfoot’ legend
We’ve all heard of Bigfoot, right? (PS - Turns out that Bigfoot “corpse” turned out to be a hoax). But did you know that Arkansas has a mysterious, lesser-known creature of it’s own? Yup, the Fouke Monster is Arkansas’ very own monster legend.
Although some claim that the Fouke Monster (Named after Fouke, Arkansas, the area where it was first sighted) first appeared in the 1940’s, the first real reports of the beast surfaced in 1971 after a bear-like creature attacked the house of Bobby and Elizabeth Ford over the course of several nights. From that point on, several more sightings surfaced, some spotting the creature crossing Highway 71 or finding tracks in the woods. Sightings continued on through the 70’s and died down during the 80’s and early 90’s. In 1997 and 1998, forty sightings we reported. No word on any activity since then.
While you’ll probably never see the monster in real life, you can check it out yourself in the three Boggy Creek films. The Legend of Boggy Creek, Return to Boggy Creek and the MST3K’d The Barbaric Beast of Boggy Creek Part II (There’s no Part I, BTW. Who knows why?) all revolve around the not-so-infamous Fouke Monster. The third film features some pretty sweet shots of the U of A campus circa 1985, which is definitely worth checking out. All three movies rule. Sorta. Kinda. Not really, though.
So, believe it or not, it’s pretty cool to know that we’ve got our very own Bigfoot-esque legend right here in Arkansas.
Check out the MS3TK’d version of The Barbaric Beast of Boggy Creek Part II here.

But the Bigfoot guys were such trustworthy fellows! I’m sure they just put a rubber suit out by mistake. Will the real Bigfoot be revealed?

i’m still trying to figure out if “Sasquatch” is Bigfoot’s name, or if that’s the name of his species

Wait just a second. Where did that picture of bigfoot riding a Razorback come from, and why isn’t it the NWA Naturals logo?
That is hilarious. Know what’s even more hilarous?
He’s waving.
