Petition for more scooter parking

  • by Wiff RightlyContributor

I’m seeing more and more two-wheeled vehicles on the road these days. I’m guessing that the high gas prices have forced some to purchase a more fuel efficient vehicle (i.e. a scooter or a “hog”) or simply pull their old bicycles out of storage. It’s a great thing to see this change happening. If I weren’t so lazy, I’d buy a new bike and pedal my way to work every day… but, like I said, I’m lazy.

Anyway, to the point: With all the new scooters and motorcycles on the road, how can we make better use of our already clogged parking here in Fayetteville? Especially in the downtown area, where parking is already ri-dic-u-lous.

The Times are reporting that the Fayetteville Revolution Scooter Club is currently promoting an online petition asking for, among many things, increased two-wheel parking in Fayetteville.

Scooter club spokesman, Quentin Daniel gave a few quick reasons why more two-wheel parking would be beneficial:

“More parking for scooters and motorcycles encourages more scooter transportation, which reduces our carbon imprint on the world. Plus, if there was a spot where five scooters could fit, as opposed to taking up one parking spot, that would leave more parking for other cars.”

So we could satisfy the parking demands of our two-wheeled vehicles, which would shore up more spots for those of us with cars? Sounds like a damn fine plan to me. Count me in.

If you want to read more or would simply like to sign the petition, alls you gots to do is click here.

Can someone answer me this: Is the Fayetteville Revolution Scooter Club the one D-Mac was in?
