Huckabee way classier than Giuliani

Huckabee way classier than Giuliani

Last night, former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, took the stage at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, MN to deliver his speech to attendees at the Republican National Convention. He delivered a fairly short speech that took aim at drawing differences between McCain and Obama as well as Palin and Biden. In his speech he made the usual remarks about how Democrats want to raise taxes, are pro-big government and aren’t focused on national security, blah, blah, blah. Nothing too surprising there. However, despite the opportunity to, and a crowd that would welcome it, he kept the attacks to a minimum and didn’t say anything too inflammatory or insulting that would irk Democrats like myself. Granted, I disagreed with many things he said and found a few hypocritical statements (ex: Spoke about the evils of racism but went on to mention that, in not-so-many words, that gay men and women shouldn’t marry) that peeved me a bit. But, all in all, it could have been much worse.

Of course on the other hand, when Rudy “9/11″ Giuliani took the stage, in addition to the usual McCain worship, he spewed almost nothing but horrible, mean-spirited, hate-filled conservative rhetoric that, in all honesty, caused me to change the channel (turns out that new motorcycle gang show on FX isn’t that bad). It never fails: Every single time Rudy “How many times can i mention terrorism” Giuliani speaks at the Republican National Convention, his speeches are horrendous. He’s offensive, demeaning and straight up hateful. But, regardless, his speeches pump the ever-living-hell out of those in attendance. There’s yelling and screaming and jumping and clapping and, for some reason, lots of chanting and weird hand gestures.

That’s not to say there aren’t those in the Democratic party with Giuliani-esque tendencies, because there are. No matter what party you belong to, there will always be those that exhibit the same horrible tendencies that Rudy does. Regardless of where your political allegiance lies, there’s no room, at least in my book, for those kinds of people.

While I fundamentally disagree with Mike Huckabee on a number of issues and am in no way a supporter of his, I have to say that the man has way more class than Rudy Giuliani could ever hope to have. It’s undeniable.

Did anyone else watch the convention last night? Were you able to stomach the entire Giuliani speech?

Sons of Anarchy. It’s got Ron Perlman(Hell(boy) Yes!), Katey Sagal and Charlie Hunnam(That British dude from Undeclared). From what I saw, I liked it. I’ll be watching next week to see if it is actually any good.

I watched the Republican convention on Fox News (which is the only way to watch a room full of bigots) and they kept trying to sneak stories in about Palin in a bikini. Silly conservatives. Stop trying to be sneaky. Just run a banner at the bottom of the screen: “Gentlemen, distract your womens and Google Palin bikini photos NOW!”

Also, it sounds like I need to Tivo a biker gang show soon.

Palin is a total milf. I almost want McCain to win just to see more of her…Plus, she did ok on the talking parts too. That helps.
