Church says hell heck no to parking deck
Remember the parking deck that was being considered at the corner of Dickson and College? Yeah, well, that ain’t happenin’.
According to the Morning News, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church leaders don’t plan on joining Washington County in the $8 million project that would have included not only a ton of downtown parking but also a skywalk across College Avenue.
The church’s leaders met for about two and a half hours last night before deciding against a proposal to build the parking deck on its land, said Rev. Lowell Grisham.
County administrator John Gibson says the county respects the church’s decision and now, “It just makes us formulate a Plan B and a Plan C.”

Eh I kind of agree with them. I’d rather see something else fronting College there than a parking deck. I think the improvements to College are going to make it prime-er real estate in the future. That skywalk looks like ****, too.

Wouldn’t have been bad if the outfacing sides had been screened. I really like the design of this parking deck in SF. Screened on the right hand side of the photo.
