Updated: School board elections today

Today’s the day to get out and vote for those school board positions that are up for grabs here in Fayetteville.

This particular election is pretty important considering the much-debated, stay-or-go FHS issue.

Our coverage of this race has been completely non-existent, however, The Iconoclast has offered its endorsements and of course, plenty of commentary.

Running for At-Large, Position 1 are Stacy Furlow, Jim Halsell, Jeanie Hill, Joe Lee, Mike Malony and Conrad Odom.

Running for At-Large, Position 2 are Susan Heil and Jim McGinty.

To find the polling place for your zone, use this poll location page and if you’re not sure which zone you live in, use this board zone map.

OK, Fayetteville. Hop to it.

UPDATE: Heil defeats McGinty. Odom and Halsell will runoff Oct 7th.

Kind of late in the day, but Sardon on Rye suggests simply voting for the Jims–Jim Halsell and James McGinty. They’ll build new facilities on the existing site and save us all a lot of money, whether you’re a tax or tution payer, or both. It’s the sustainable thing to do. They both support smaller schools, so expect the Board to start thinking about a second high school and leaving 9th graders in junior high, where they belong.

The Jims are not connected to Bobbynu and his developer/realtor pals who want your money and don’t care about the kids.

Thanks for the summary. I had no idea who was what.

Speaking of voting, I think everyone should. Here is a place to find out more information on registering in Arkansas. If you are a student away from your hometown or if you have moved in the past 4 years (since the last presidential campaign) and you haven’t registered yet, why not?

Also, why not head down to the new Chick Fil A on 6th street this Friday for Free Breakfast Fridays? What a treat!
