Growing Pains
We’re currently moving some things around here at the Flyer and although we’re gonna do our best to keep the site from falling apart over the next few days, we can’t make any guarantees. Don’t get too mad at us if you stop by and notice something weird. We should be running smooth again before too long.
One thing you’ll notice pretty soon is that you’re gonna need to create a free account with us in order to post a comment. Yeah, yeah, we know. It sucks. Royally. And yeah, we know how inconvenient it’s gonna be when you just wanna call someone a name and now you have to log in and remember your password but you can’t because you never wrote it down and now you’ve finally remembered it but you don’t really feel like calling someone a name anymore so you just say “screw it” and then you leave. Well, too bad. Life sucks.
To be as transparent as we can, though, this new comment policy is being put into place because we’ve noticed a lot of mean-spirited comments being posted here at the Flyer and we’re gonna try and keep that to a minimum. Nasty comments will get deleted as soon as we notice them and repeated offenses will most likely result in the deletion of accounts.
Having an opinion is one thing but being a huge a-hole is another. The last thing we want to do is turn the Flyer into just another local news site so we’re gonna do our best to keep things from becoming too sterile but we’ll probably make some mistakes along the way so please be patient with us, dear readers.
Cool?

The Fayetteville Flyer doesn't necessarily condone the comments here, nor does it review every post. Read our full policy.

Excellent idea.
Could you also delete posts with grossly improper grammar? WHAT ABOUT ALL CAPS?!?
Some accountability is a good thing. Just don’t make me tell you my real name.
Ruins the crime fighting, y’see.

I am not a fan of that color blue that you use. Everybody is biting your steez, even the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/la-na-palinappeal2-2008oct02,0,1040363.story
I think you should pin a pantone chart to the wall, pour yourselves a few beers, and break out the darts.

It’s mostly a personal preference I think, probably due to the success of wordpress it’s everywhere as part of an overarching design cliche: http://www.fightthesmears.com/
While it does look better than the LAT version, you don’t want to look back and be like “ohhhhh THAT was so very 2008, how embarrassing.” Kind of like zubaz hammerpants… Not sayin’ they’re not comfy, but you know…….
