NWA Gridiron Show

NWA Gridiron Show

October 11, 2008 · By Ted Dancin' · 3 Comments

Tonight’s the last night to check out the local Society of Professional Journalists as they direct and perform the annual “Northwest Arkansas Gridiron Show” at 8 p.m. in the Rogers Little Theater.

Whether you give two rips about politics and news or not, you can be sure the show will at least be funny. Maybe you’ll laugh at the jokes. Or maybe you’ll just laugh at the folks trying to tell the jokes. Either way, it should be a good time.

This year’s show will include spoofs, skits and songs about the highly controversial fate of Fayetteville High School and the Walton Arts Center, the hiring of U of A Football Coach Bobby Petrino and even this year’s historic 2008 presidential race.

The highlight of the show for Fayetteville residents, however, will surely be the “Singing Bee” in which six candidates for Fayetteville mayor compete to finish the words to a song about their campaigns.

Tickets are $25 and all proceeds benefit the local chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists, the American Association of University Women and the Rogers Little Theater.

The Rogers Little Theater is at 116 S. 2nd St. in Rogers. For tickets, call 479-422-8207

Thanks so much to all who came out. We have a great time putting it on. ‘Til Next Year!

It was another great year for the Gridiron. Some of the performers had best keep their day jobs as far as their singing/dancing abilities, others were surprisingly good–but the writing is razor sharp and witty and everyone, on and off the stage, has fun. If you missed it, start thinking about next year. Thanks to all who had a hand in putting it on.
