Gettin’ Desperate: The Anti-Lottery Folks
I can’t say I’m surprised that the Family Council Action Committee are pulling out all the stops to keep the proposed state lottery amendment from moving forward. Yesterday, an attorney representing the FCAC urged the state Supreme Court to block the November 4th vote on the lottery amendment citing that the ballot title is “misleading.”
They’re also arguing that the title fails to define exactly what a state lottery is and, as always, stated that it might open a door to allow casino gambling to make its way into the state… which would ruin the lives of countless lower-class individuals(stupids) who are simply too dumb to know any better. OK, they didn’t actually say that last part… but they’ve definitely made that argument in the past.
To quote the Demozette, “Assistant attorney general Matt McCoy, representing Secretary of State Charlie Daniels, said ballot title and popular name fairly and accurately convey the scope and import of the proposed amendment. The proposal preserves the ban on the sale of lottery tickets with a narrow exception allowing state lotteries for college scholarships, he said.”
Justice Jim Gunter said that it is, in fact, possible for a casino to operate under the amendment and not produce any money for scholarships. However, McCoy states that “clearly private for-profit enterprises like those you see in Vegas or in Tunica would be inconsistent with the parameters that are set out by this ballot title.
I don’t know what you think, but it seems like the cards are stacked against the Family Council Action Committee. Their arguments are becoming more and more ridiculous and now that the ballots are printed, there’s no way to keep the people from voting. They’re in a last-ditch effort to prevent this from happening and I’d be willing to bet that the FCAC will lose this battle. At least I hope they do. I wanna play some powerball.

Lead to casinos? Hell, it will lead to outright forced homo sex for everybody. People will be dragged off to gulags for not smoking hash in the streets. Prostitutes will run rampant, and women and Negroes will not only vote, but run for President. College students will drink beer. Babies will be born barefoot.
Worst of all, more of our kids will be taught science. That talking snake hoodwinked Eve into tasting that knowledge, and liberal college professors have been doling it our ever since.
Admittedly, that ballot title is misleading if you don’t know how to read.
