Slow Dancing opens tonight
If you don’t know what Slow Dancing is, you’re about to find out for free…whether you read this post or not. That is, unless you can somehow avoid Dickson Street every single night for the next month(ish).
As previously reported, one of the coolest outdoor art exhibitions ever is making its third stop in the United States having opened in New York City and Los Angeles before heading to Toronto and Venice.
The exibit is a series of 40+ larger-than life, hyper-slow-motion video portraits of iconic dancers and choreographers from around the world. They’re being shown on three gigantic screens that will hang from the front of the Walton Arts Center for anyone who passes by to see starting at 7pm every night (starting tonight) until November 13.
There’s no charge to watch and there’s also a free “making of” exhibition currently showing in the WAC gallery which features behind-the-scenes still photographs, artists’ statements and a 7-minute video.
If you’re really excited or just can’t wait until 7pm, you should consider attending the Opening Night shindig which starts this afternoon at 5:30pm. Tickets are $25 and include food, drink and entertainment featuring Slow Dancing creator David Michalek and featured dancer Desmond Richardson.
For more information on the exhibit, the Artist and for specific times, head over to waltonartscenter.org.

I’m definitely going to check it out. I’m pretty sure Ted Dancin’ is planning on doing some slo-mo break-dancing out front as well. That’ll be worth checking out.
