Washington County Courthouse Parking Deck Falling Apart?

October 20, 2008 11:56 pm · By Dustin · 2 Comments

The top level of the parking deck at the Washington Country Courthouse was closed Monday because of fears that it may collapse under the weight of vehicle traffic.

Last week, a chunk of concrete from the parking deck fell from the top level leaving a 9 foot gash in the level below.

Um…isn’t there something important going on at the courthouse this week?

Oh yeah. Early voting also began today in Washington County, and many other places around the state.

There are still 20 spaces available in the east side of the parking deck that leads from the first to the second floor. Also, Ozark Regional Transit will run a shuttle between the Methodist Church a couple blocks away and the courthouse. The shuttle will run every 10 minutes. There are also a few spots available in the First Christian Church parking lot right behind the courthouse.

Employees (with a death wish, apparently) will still park beneath the parking deck.

So, if you plan on voting early, you’d better make sure to allow yourself a little extra time to find parking or to take the shuttle. And don’t jump up and down on top of the parking deck. Also, stay in school.

Now, let’s start the conspiracy theories.

It’s a good thing our County Judge is so on top of things. Otherwise, this situation might have been noticed and taken care of long before, and would not have gotten as much publicity as it has since we are starting voting in the most intense election in a long time, locally and nationally. I’m sensing a pretty spiteful, petty, deliberate decision by Hunton to schedule this closing as he did. Guess he didn’t like the criticism over his out-of-the-blue condemnation plans. It’s well past time for ole Jerry to be out to pasture. Be careful of that loco weed, Judge, that’s been sneaking into your feed.

Yeah it is kind of telling that they didn’t even start talking about a new parking deck until this one was showing signs of falling down.

Or, is it sabotage?

Nah, probably not. But it does seem to be quite a coincidence.
