Finger Mountain Breakdown

Beer. Camping. Bonfire. Bluegrass. Food. Charity.

If you’re a fan of any or all of the above, then I’ve got just the event for you. This Friday night will mark the inaugural year of the Finger Mountain Breakdown, a “festival celebrating the Ozarks tradition of roots and bluegrass music during the fall splendor of late October.”

Besides bringing a bunch of folks together to enjoy some quality bluegrass, drink some delicious Boulevard Brewery beer, eat some tasty food and camp out under the stars, the event is one of charity. All proceeds raised from the festival will go towards supporting the Suttle family and helping to cover costs in their efforts to help save their 22 month old daughter’s vision.

You can read more about little Eleanor Suttle and her condition at www.eleanorseyes.com. We’d provide a direct link, but for some weird reason, their site doesn’t accept incoming links. Odd. Anyway..

Sponsored by Boulevard Brewing Co. and Bavarian Cream Designs, the festival begins this Friday, October 24th at 3pm and will run thru midnight. Several bands will be there to rock your face off(not sure if that’s really an appropriate phrase, but, whatever) including Cletus Got Shot, The Crumbs, Mountain Sprout and many more.

Admission is $10 a pop (Kids under 10 get in for free, though), parking is $5 and camping will run you $15 a spot. Remember that all proceeds go towards a good cause. So when you’re paying $3 for a brew, you know that some of that beer money will go towards helping a little girl keep her vision… so drink up, but make sure you’ve got a camping site beforehand. Last thing we need is for you to drink a ton and drive home. That doesn’t help anybody.

PS – From what I’ve heard, folks are encouraged to bring instruments to the festival. I guess there’ll be some “pickin’ circles” all around the place. So bring your geetar, mouth harp, penny whistle, flugelhorn or whatever you’ve got and join in the jam if that’s your thing.

For directions or more information, visit the Finger Mountain Breakdown MySpace site.

Have fun!

isn’t little eleanor’s daddy the owner of Greenhouse Grille? i hear they’re re-opening this week. that is as awesome than the festival idea.

i hope they raise a boatload of money. i also hope someone names a bluegrass band ” lil’ eleanor ”

p.s.- it look like eleanorseyes.com has been scuttled

Boggy – I’m getting an error on that link as well. Looks like eleanorseyes.com is still up, but for some reason their web server won’t accept incoming links and throws a 406 error… anyway, if you want to view the site, just open a browser and key in the URL(www.eleanorseyes.com) and it will work. Weird.

JTrain,

I created a tinyurl to point to the site. FF viewers should be able to click here: http://tinyurl.com/eleanorseyes

Thanks, Steezy. Unfortunately, I’m still getting a 406 error when I click it. I’m pretty good with the innerwebs and all, but this one baffles me. Alls I know is that this problem is on whoever hosts that site.
