Deceased Person Remains on Ballot in Springdale

As much as we’d like to we can’t even make fun of Springdale for this fact; when the ballots are cast on November 4th, a deceased individual could be elected to the city council in Springdale.

Eddie Free, 50, was running for city council Ward 1, Position 2 when he passed away Sunday morning. Since the ballots have already been printed, and for early voters, since some votes have already been cast, Free’s name will remain on the Nov 4th ballot, and Free could technically be elected to the city council.

In the event that Free is elected to the council, the incumbent Kathy Jaycox will remain in office.

As much as we’d like to turn this into a Springdale Springdales post, we’ll refrain out of respect to the deceased family.

Free was a well respected and well liked member of the Springdale community. Free’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.
