Halloween Parties, Baby

October 30, 2008 · By Dustin · 3 Comments

It’s Halloween, and that means a lot of things to a lot of people in Fayetteville. Young kids will be going door to door in adorable costumes looking for some candy. Older kids will show up at your door w/o a costume, and still expect some candy. Even older kids will toilet paper your yard, and smash your jack-o-lantern.

Your friend will put on his banana costume, and dance around in your other friend’s garage. Also, lots of girls will be in crazy-slutty outfits for no real reason other than to look super hot. What a weird holiday.

If none of that really floats your boat, here’s a brief synopsis of what’s going on around town, at least that we know of.

halloween-1Six Tom Petties
The Good Fear will appear at Froggy’s on Dickson street, and will do a set of Tom Petty Covers under the name “Six Tom Petties.” Memphis Pencils will do the Kinks, and Use Curtis will be doing a Beatles set. The show starts at 9:00, and there will be cash prizes for the best costume. This is a tradition in Little Rock, and we hope it catches on in Fayetteville.

punkinhead1Punkinhead Performs
Legendary Fayetteville band Punkinhead performs for the first time in a long time at the Green Door in Fayetteville. Word on the street is they’ve been practicing a lot, and will “blow the doors off that place.” Better get there early. This one is expected to sell out.

The OPO will host a pretty sweet dance party with local DJ’s Luminfire, Beat Bachs, Robe Flak and Tanner Beam. $8 admission with a costume, and $10 without a costume. They plan to transform the historic downtown Old Post Office into two floors of Halloween madness complete with Halloween themed video installations, scary props and lighting, and of course the best dance party DJ’s in Fayetteville.

I’m sure there is a lot of other awesome stuff going on. In fact, if you know of something awesome going on in Fayetteville, feel free to share in the comments. Happy Halloween.

UPDATE: We found two more events over at Tuned In:

COSTUME MADNESS - ’80s rock-out featuring Boom! Kinetic at Grub’s. Besides live music, there’s a costume contest with a $500 Grubs gift certificate at stake among other prizes at 10 p.m. Admission is $5.

SOUL REVUE - Fayetteville expat Matt Jones, will play a handful of soul tunes by performers such as Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and James Brown as well as some originals. Add four DJs up front, and a costume contest and you’ve got yourself a real-deal partay. Doors at 9pm. Admission $7.

There’s a party at Georges too.. I’m headed to Dallas so I won’t be able to attend, but if I wasn’t, this is where I’d be..

I have a glowskull over my door and a bag of tootsie rolls.

I also stopped at Richard’s Meat Market and picked up some spinach dip and salsa. I have a few cans of beer as well.
