Fayetteville chooses Obama, too.
We don’t need to tell you who the next President of the United States is. It was decided long before bedtime last night. However, I’m sure many would argue that it was decided about two years ago when our country realized that not voting was a terrible, terrible thing.
According to most of the local news outlets, nearly 70% of Washington County registered voters took advantage of their constitutional rights this year which is pretty awesome.
Although Arkansas is obviously still full of conservatives, Fayetteville still seems to be as forward-thinking as ever. Did anyone else see all the young folks at nearly every intersection in town screaming for Obama? It was pretty breath-taking to see such interest in a national election considering our state’s 6 electoral votes were painted red from the start.
Who celebrated last night? Who was disappointed? Any good stories?

Wow… how rude to refer to “conservative” and “forward thinking” as opposite.

Adam –
Conservatism = the tendency to prefer an existing or traditional situation to change (Merriam-Webster)
The status quo is not “forward thinking”.

All change is not progress.
America transitioning to Communism would be change and a “rejection of the status quo”. I suppose it could be viewed as “forward thinking”. It would not be a good thing.
I’m sure there are people who disagree.
All CHANGE is not good.

And another thing.
This media-driven hatred of Sarah Palin. I don’t get it.
Obama was NEVER even scrutinized by our media. They are beginning to admit that they know nothing about the guy that didn’t come from his autobiographies and his own speeches.
He was never asked tough questions. The Courics and Brokaws were too busy salivating over the prospect of a guy with dark skin being our president to risk “offending” anyone by asking him ****.
Sarah Palin, a MILFTASTIC HOT lady who likes to shoot guns and make babies got relentlessly attacked in the media.
What is not to like? DREAM WOMAN.
What the **** is wrong with America?

Total Bastard… your comment on purchasing weapons is absolutely disgusting. Wake up and stop being so ignorant.
Sometimes the best way to see the flaws in an image is to examine its opposite…
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage following the debate, including a three month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his college graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.)
What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to publicly display a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?
You could easily add to this list.
If these questions reflected a reality, – - – if the tables were turned, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative characteristics in another when there is a color difference.
And, think of these facts – the candidates’ educational backgrounds:
Barack Obama:
Columbia University – B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard – Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Joseph Biden:
University of Delaware – B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law – Juris Doctor (J.D.)
John McCain:
United States Naval Academy – Class rank: 894 of 899
Sarah Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University – 1 semester
North Idaho College – 2 semesters – general study
University of Idaho – 2 semesters – journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College – 1 semester
University of Idaho – 3 semesters – B.A. in Journalism
Education isn’t everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world.
