I think the League will use a similar format as they did in the their first debate. It is unfortunate that that didn’t include rebuttal. I think that works to Jordan’s advantage. I sense his knowledge isn’t very deep on many issues. Maybe with so much more time they will allow for clarifications. I would also assume the League chose the venue. The Chamber got a much better venue that will accommodate many more people.

I wonder who Clark will endorse? He got a lot of votes.

I could see him go either way, although I think if he were an “Anybody But Coody” guy, he’d have already endorsed Jordan.

Coody is much more business friendly than Jordan, so I figure he may just have to endorse Coody.

I hope you are correct, polecat.
Who is formulating the questions?
What criteria was used in choosing those responsible for deciding on the questions?
Who had input into said questions?
Has either of the candidates been provided with any clue as to what the questions may be?
Will the public be allowed to ask anything?
Will there be a true debate format, including rebuttals?
Why was the Council chamber at City Hall, such a relatively small venue, chosen as the site for the first debate?

The League of Women Voters of Washington County plans a forum between Coody and Jordan from 7: 30-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Fayetteville City Administration Building at 113 W. Mountain St.

The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a forum for 5: 30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at the University of Arkansas Center for Continuing Education on the Fayetteville Square.

I think that the number of voters who did not choose to support Coody is most significant. All of those voters decided he was not deserving of another term. In the last few weeks he has employed truly nasty tactics which haven’t made him any new friends and serve to inspire and envigorate Lioneld’s supporters to work even harder for the next three weeks.
Walt Eilers is quoted in the Times today as being fully supportive of Lioneld. Assuming his supporters follow his lead, the race is neck and neck. The other candidates have yet to declare their preferences but each of them has had, to put it mildly, less than flattering things to say about Coody’s tenure.
I can assure all of Fayetteville that Lioneld’s supporters are fired up and ready to get out there win this one and are passionate about getting the word out.
Yes, halfdeserted, the timing is unfortunate. But early voting begins the 18th and, hopefully, voters can get out there and get it done early.

I’m a little concerned that the run-off is two days before Thanksgiving. A lot of people will be out of town or busy packing and making plans. I bet only diehard Coody and Jordan supporters will show up to vote. If that happens, Coody will probably win, since he got a much higher percentage of the vote yesterday.
