Staff Pick’ems: UA vs. USC South Carolina
Homecoming, win! #1 offense in the country, bah, win! Malzahn’s return ruined, win! I was at the game, win! Man, what a game. After hanging 17 on Tulsa in the first quarter, I thought the game was way out of reach for Tulsa — welcome to playing a real team. Not so fast, for the UofA, though, Tulsa’s offense was every bit as good as advertised as they marched down the field in two drives that took a total of 2:40. It didn’t matter, though, the defense played well enough, Tejada came back with a vengeance, and Casey Dick — even though he TRIED to lose the game for us — did a pretty good job. Win! Hog Win!
With the same predictions last week, I’m naming The Steve and Squidge as our winners. Sadly, Malzahn didn’t explode and Ted Dancin’ didn’t have to take over the defense, but nice predictions you two. And for those keeping track at home, Squidge has won three times this season. Not damn half bad.
This week, ugh, Arkansas faces the #3 defense in the country. It’s not a typical Ol’ Ball Coach team, which is usually offense-heavy, but they’re winning some games and are playing to boost their bowl stock. We, on the other hand, are just trying to get to a bowl, period. What will the Hogs boys be doing this weekend on the field? Another win? Or another close loss? Or maybe?

Dern L. says: I haven’t picked Arkansas to win since week two, it feels good. I believe Arkansas will have its first back-to-back wins of the season (as oppossed to back-to-back non-losses). Beating Tulsa made us horny, fo’ sho’. Hogs pound the ball on the ground, while the Gamecocks continue to look awful in those uniforms.

Basketball started and I’m losing interest in football quickly. Last night I saw Courtney Fortson perform his magic routine on several Dillard players and I spied on Ted Dancin’ from the nose-bleeds. Let’s hope the football team still has some magic left.
