I’m sad for Robert and April and all their customers and vendors, the musicians and dancers, and everybody.

About a year ago, I started hearing people call Evelyn Hills “the New Dickson Street,” and I kind of agreed. Dickson has been sterilized with the exceptions of George’s and the Pool Hall Museum (the back pool half hall of Roger’s Rec). Evelyn Hills had the Green Door, and still has the fish market, the natural food store, a Chinese buffet, Chuck E. Cheese, Uncle Sam’s, and, uh, some other cool stuff.

I hope somebody who can afford to weather some tough times takes over the Green Door and benefits from Robert and April’s hard work, but I can’t think of anybody better suited to pull it off than those two. They got Levon Helm to play there. We haven’t had a rock and roll hall of famer play in this town since the last time Levon played here.

Maybe someone should make it into a hot R&B dance club, name it something like “The Room at Evelyn Hills”, advertise the hizzell out of it on 105.7 and invite every douchebag from West Fork to Pea Ridge to a giant douche-out every weekend.

No Mexicans, unless they’re pouka shell wearing popped colla mexicans.
