Aerial America – Arkansas
Last week while I was out living it up in Las Vegas(i.e. losing money at the blackjack tables), we received an email from the good people at the Smithsonian Channel. Turns out that they’re filming a new series, using the same technology that the BBC used when filming the Planet Earth series, that will view the natural landscapes and historical landmarks of each of the 50 states… starting with none other than our very own Natural State. I’m talking about Arkansas, baby!
Now I know I’ve piqued your interest, but don’t go setting your DVR’s just yet. The show won’t be airing until next July, so you’ve got a little wait ahead of you. However, in the meantime you can read the Smithsonian Channel’s Aerial American blog as they’ll be discussing the series as well as each state they visit. Pretty neat.
I’m looking forward to checking this out. I’ve seen NWA from an aerial perspective(thru the window of a regional jet) before, but the view is usually interrupted by a screaming kid who also happens to be kicking my seat and testing my sanity. Needless to say, I’ll be amped to enjoy the view from my living room.

Hey there, I’m the VP of digital media at Smithsonian Channel and wanted to say thanks for mentioning our new series Aerial America. Also, while it’s true that you do have to wait until July for the premiere of the shows, we’re in the process of putting together a website that will have sneak peeks at the footage from each state, top 10 lists of sites to see in each state, aerial photos and more – so do check back with us at smithsonianchannel.com for more on Aerial Arkansas.
