Lioneld Jordan wins the runoff election

jordanwins

All 43 precincts have reported their tallies and with 57 percent of the votes, Lioneld Jordan is the new mayor of Fayetteville.

Over 10,000 people turned out for the runoff election, of which 5,796 were favor of new leadership.

Local politics will be nothing new to Lioneld Jordan. Besides being a citizen of Northwest Arkansas his entire life, Jordan has served on the City Council as Ward 4 alderman for eight years and has been vice mayor since 2004.

This was a battle from the start as supporters for both candidates took great pride in their respective favorite. From countless letters to the editors, even more comments on local blogs, hours of phone calls, and door-to-door campaigns, there are no doubt many celebrations and much dissapointment in the air tonight.

Whether you think Mayor-elect Jordan has some big shoes to fill or some big messes to clean, there’s no questioning who the majority of voters are behind. A close race it was not.

“It will be a big challenge,” Jordan told KFSM 5 NEWS, “but I welcome that challenge.”

    We did it!

This election was anything but dull. Between the busboy, felon, school kid, screw-up, grandpa, and the yes-man it was definitely a fun show. Good luck Mr. Jordan.

    Which one was Lioneld, Johnathan?
Oh, who cares? Whatever names he was called, now he can be respectfully addressed as Mayor-Elect Jordan. Damn straight!
Voters got this one right–big time!
Go Lioneld! I know you’ll never let us down.
It will be so refreshing to have an honest, trustworthy mayor for a change.
Get over it, TB. The electorate was sick and tired of Dan’s empty claims, promises and vicious attacks on everyone who didn’t pledge allegiance to his ass.
Mayor Jordan has a really sweet ring to it.
    Hurry up, January 1st!

I voted for Coody and I’d do it again. Obviously I was in the minority. I have to trust that the majority of the people made a good decision for Fayetteville and throw my full support behind Mayor Jordan.

I mean, the majority always elects the best leader. Am I right? ***sigh***

I just love this town so much and we have made such great strides lately. Hopefully we didn’t f&$k it up.

I hope Jordan can keep some of the good things going.

    For example:

I am sitting here watching Channel 16 before leaving town for T-Day and they are replaying the Sustainability Summit. Our mayor is sitting on the stage with the mayor of Austin, and the mayor of Chapel Hill, exchanging ideas about growth, sustainability, and being an attractive community for young professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and live music lovers.

I wonder if Jordan going to host the Sustainability Summit next year?

I’ll be a Jordan believer when I see this kind of high profile event continued, grown, and used to enhance our city’s reputation as a desireable destination for young minds, research dollars, and cultural amenities investment.

wasnt that one of Jordon’s campaign promises…. to never leave the city limits of Fayetteville again!! that will cut down on Fayetteville’s carbon footprint.
