Razorbacks Eradicate the Rattlers
It’s been a good holiday for the Arkansas Razorbacks, as the Basketball Hogs capped off the weekend with another win, this time at the expense of the Florida A&M Rattlers.
Michael Washington led the Hogs with 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Hogs recovered from a sluggish start with a strong second half to beat the Rattlers 86-61.
The Razorbacks only lead 36-29 at the half and in general struggled to get things going in the first half. Bud Walton arena was only about half full, and the student section was as empty as we’ve ever seen it due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Arkansas was also without starting forward Montrell McDonald, as well as Jason Henry due to suspensions to both players by Razorback coach John Pelphrey.
Starting guards Courtney Fortson and Rotnei Clarke added 13 and 12 points, and Marcus Britt played one of his best games as a Razorback contributing 9 points off the bench to go along with 6 rebounds. The Razorbacks are now 4 and 1 on the year. Next up for the Razorbacks is Texas Southern on Wednesday.

A few comments:
* Michael Washington sits at 3-2 on living up to expectations, I’m not looking forward to SEC play right now. He should be 5-0 thus far, in my opinion.
* I’m pumped about our coaches (both Pet and Pel) about their non-hesitations in suspending players. When you’re recruited to play sports at a school, you have to abide by the rules — you’re not given a golden pass.
* What the HELL are these players doing to get punished? I don’t hear much over the innerlux.

I just read this morning that Michael Washington is having bad back problems and according to Courtney Fortson, is only playing “about 70 percent.” He may only be 3-2 on having a great game but he’s 0-5 on having a bad one which is commendable considering he’s injured.
Britt was surprisingly awesome and Clark (with no “e”) turned some heads as well. I too wonder what in the world these dudes are doing to get in trouble.
