Lioneld Jordan names transition team

December 8, 2008 · By Todd Gill · 5 Comments

Fayetteville Mayor-elect Lioneld Jordan has assembled his official transition leadership team to help manage the move into his new job.

Jordan, who beat out the current Mayor Dan Coody in a runoff election last month, named former Alderman Don Marr as chair of his transition team. Marr also is the owner of HR Factor/ BOSS Association Management Services.

Also named to the team were Mary Beth Brooks, president and CEO of the Bank of Fayetteville and former mayoral candidate Walt Eilers of Terrapin Consulting.

“These are respected leaders from both the public and private sectors who have my complete confidence and whom I consider to be experts in several key areas, including city management, budget, personnel, grants, environmental concerns, and community service,” Jordan said.

Marr said the team is dedicated to ensuring the continuity of city government leadership and a smooth transfer from the current group of Coody officials to the upcoming Jordan administration.

“We will keep this transition process transparent, so that you will know the details of our plans in this administration to lead the city for the next four years,” Jordan added. “While meetings of the Transition Team are not official government meetings, we will conduct our business in public and comply fully with the spirit of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act.”

The complete Jordan administration transition team also includes Suzanne Clark, Kutak Rock; Steve Davis, Davis Business Planning; Cathy Foraker, AT&T; Ernestine Gibson, UA Student Support Services; Michele Halsell, UA Applied Sustainability Center; Rob Leflar, UA School of Law; Eva Madison, Littlier Mendelson; Louise Mann , environmental consultant; Adam Motherwell, UA Fulbright College; and Dede Peters , DDP Gallery.

Looks like Lioneld Jordan really does mean business, just like that ad during the runoff said. Quite the impressive team of advisors! We know Lioneld has a reputation for listening and these people will probably have a lot of worthy ideas to share. You can bet he’ll work very hard to implement everything in his power to make the city more efficient and effective.
This group is strong and diverse…and it already outnumbers the handful of people to whom Coody paid any heed. There is also a noticeable lack of people with personal agendas or profit motives.
He will hit the ground running.

Perhaps some of this team signed on because the thought of Lioneld at the wheel scared the crap out of them. They’re watching out for their own interests instead of being as civic minded as you’re supposed to believe. There are at least 3 on the team that I know of that have their own agendas. Go Team

Well, for starters there is one who would love to be mayor, but didn’t think the town was ready for such a drastic change in lifestyle. There is one who needs employment so is hoping to step into a permanent job. There is one who wants to kill the Hwy 265 widening project with or without bicycle lanes. And one who is a SPY. Heh heh
