Flyer Profile: Dreamfast
Fayetteville based band Dreamfast gets around. With over 3,000 friends on Myspace and without a major label supporting them, they’ve accomplished some pretty impressing things touring regionally, and the best is likely yet to come from these guys. They are still really young. Here’s what Punk Planet had to say about Dreamfast. “Excellent pop-punk from down in Arkansas that keeps it simple and because of which succeeds wildly. Female vocals add an even poppier feel, and the songwriting never gets complex to the point of being too technical for a pop-punk band. Seek this out for a good, honest pop fix”
You can catch Dreamfast at George’s Majestic Lounge on January 5th at the Inner Party CD Release show, along with the Heat Machine. They are currently working on a new record, and you can check some of their tunes out on myspace as well.
Fayetteville Flyer: What have you been listening to lately?
Dreamfast: alot of jenny lewis, brand new/jesse lacey, and a band i recently discovered called The Graduate.
FF:How long have you guys been playing together?
DF: a few years now. philly and stephen have been on the dreamfast train for over 3 years, kenny is lookin at about 2.
FF: How do you perceive the music scene in Fayetteville right now?
DF: very scatter brained. there are a ton of good bands around here and a ton of potentially good promoters but no one seems to be clicking i have hope that one day it’s all gonna come together and we’ll have a little austin on our hands. as far as the bands go, lately everyone has been attending everyone elses shows, the bond between bands is starting to grow, and that can never hurt a music scene..
FF: How many records do you have out currently?
DF: one full length, one EP.
FF: And, you’re working on a new one, correct? How is it different from your previous recordings?
DF: yes. the main difference thus far is the process. i have never had such an amazing connection with a producer before. (adam putman) he has a way of pulling things out of musicians that i have never seen before. and the end product he has come up with is fantastic.
FF: Who are some local bands that people might now know about that they need to check out?
DF: jesus chrysler supercar is the main one that pops into my head. they are just getting started promoting their new record so be on the lookout!
FF: What’s your favorite venue in town?
DF: my basement
FF: You guys don’t seem like a political band, but if you were, what causes would you support?
DF: we are all pretty liberal politically, definately not a political band.
FF: What’s next for you guys? Any touring plans?
DF: we wanna get the record out, and then will definately be playing out of town shows for a few months on weekends, then a tour for sure.
FF: Do you guys play out of town much? Any good road stories?
DF: we used to play out of town quite freqently but nowadays we are just trying to get the record out. and we have way too many good road stories to pick just one! you’ll just have to come to a show and ask :)
