Weekend: Jan 16, 17, 18

This week has already been awesome for live music, but it’s not over yet. In fact, it’s just getting started. Weekend!

All of a sudden, Fayetteville is hip-hop-rich, which is awesome. Tonight, you have a choice in live hip-hop. At Froggy’s, you can catch Maxx, a Little Rock hip-hopper that has received a lot of attention for some great live shows in Little Rock, and will make his (as far as we know) Fayetteville debut tonight.

Or, you could head to George’s for Hardaway and the Commoners “Back to School Soiree” and check out some local hip-hop.

Tomorrow night, some locals banded together to bring the Zero’s to George’s. The Zero’s are an 80’s cover band from Kansas City that a bunch of local people liked so much, they decided to foot the bill to get them to George’s in hopes that they would catch on enough to make it a regular stop. From the organizers’ invitation, “The Zeros, a totally rad 80s cover band from KC, will take us back to the days when Frankie said, “Relax,” and mortgages and car payments were far from our minds.” Also, “80s attire NOT required, but certainly FUN!”

For more rock, head to the Smoke and Barrel tavern for David’s Pegasus, A+ Setup, and the See. David’s Pegasus is possibly one of Fayetteville’s best bands, and are certainly under-appreciated around here. They have a great live show.

Check out Derek Jenkins’ video on David’s Pegasus from the Little Rock blog Rock Candy.
