So many ways to follow Ice Storm 2009

If you are fortunate enough to be one of the Fayetteville residents that still has power (and an internet connection) there are about 1,000 ways to keep up with the carnage that is this awful ice storm gripping our area right now.

The first is the Fayetteville Flyer (duh). We’ll be providing updates periodically through bouts with sporadic power and internet connections. Also of value are the updates Flyer readers give in the comments about what’s going on in their neck of the woods.

Facebook is also a great way to stay informed. If you’re on Facebook, and you are not a friend of the Fayetteville Flyer, add us.

Finally, there are some great discussions, updates, pictures, etc on Twitter today as well. You can follow the Flyer on Twitter here, and if you’re already a Twitter user, how’s about a follow? We’ll follow you back.

If you aren’t familiar with Twitter, it is a micro-blogging service designed to allow brief, instant updates by users, and is a perfect tool for situations like this. Updates can be tagged with a subject, and you can see all the updates about the NWA Ice Storm 2009 here.

We’ll also be updating our photostream over at Flickr.

This is one of the worst ice storms I can remember. Staying up to date with what’s going on around town with a mess like this happening is a good way to keep informed, and stay away from some of the more dangerous situations.
