Wakarusa announces artist additions

  • by Dustin Bartholomew, Flyer Staff
    on January 29, 2009 at 4:20 pm

So the question is this. If Wakarusa announces nine more artists for this years festival in the middle of a really terrible ice storm, and no one has power or an internet connection, does anyone notice?

Well, we noticed, and Flyer reader cbotwell also noticed, and notified us that indeed, the new-to-the-Ozark-Mountain festival did in fact announce nine more artists sometime on Tuesday, and in the middle of all the chaos that has been this week, we failed to mention it.

We imagine there are still many more artists to be announced for the festival that is making it’s Northwest Arkansas debut this summer. Yesterday, G. Love and Special Sauce, Matisyahu, Les Claypool, JJ Grey and MOFRO, New Mastersounds, New Monsoon, Ganga Giri, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue and Dusty Rhodes and the River Band were announced as additions to the initial lineup announced earlier this month. Visit the Wakarusa site for the full lineup, and we promise to stay on top of this as more artists are announced.

RV sites are already sold out for the concert as of January 15th, so don’t wait until the bigger artists are announced to get your tickets.

Eclectic line-up, beautiful setting, can’t beat it. Psyched for Wakarusa coming to Arkansas. -DGold from Fayetteville, KXUA Honest FM

Ah, come on sofresh. Matisyahu and Les Claypool aren’t hippy jam bands by any stretch. I for one am now more pumped.

George, they help, but still, far far far from eclectic, and it depends on which incarnation of les claypool arrives.
