Walton Arts Center offers two free shows tomorrow

January 29, 2009 2:58 pm · By Dustin · 2 Comments

After three days of one of the worst ice storms this area has ever seen, including many residents still experiencing limited to no heat or electricity, the Walton Arts center is offering Fayetteville residents at least a few hours of warmth and entertainment tomorrow.

Kimberly Clark and Walton Arts Center invite you to enjoy two free performances of the family show Stellaluna. Shows begin at 11am and 3pm and are free and open to the public. No advance reservations required.

Stellaluna is a musical adaptation of the children’s book by Janell Cannon, and tells the story of a baby bat who falls out of her nest, right into a family of birds.

Stellaluna is best suited for ages 5-8, but audiences of all ages are welcome. For more information, visit waltonartscenter.org.

Very cool of WAC to do this. This show is a few years (or 20!) to young for me, but I’m sure a lot of people will get a lot out of it.

WTG WAC!

Yeah, this caters exactly to the people who can usually afford to go to the Whack. So, the show is free, but the people who know about this and can go already have their power on…pretty much the people in east fayetteville.

Reports were saying that attempts to restore power were happening in the densely populated areas first, but my neighborhood of poor people and college students hasn’t seen a power truck yet, and my area definitely has one of the highest population densities. Instead all the people with any clout got their power back; I guess burning wood in their fireplaces is too labor-intensive for them.

No one around my apartment is around b/c they have no means of keeping warm and all their food has gone bad. The people who needed power the most, to keep warm and to keep their food cold aren’t getting a damn thing. Where is the mayor to help the good common folk who put him in office.
