Restaurant Week: Herman’s Ribhouse
Delicious steaks, ribs and burgers are synonymous with Herman’s Ribhouse. For over 40 years the people of Fayetteville(and beyond) have been flocking to that old white house on the hill in order to sink their teeth into some of the best food Fayetteville has to offer.
As a long-time Fayetteville native, I’ve spent countless hours at Herman’s with my friends, family and co-workers taking down as much crackers and salsa as humanly possible. Thankfully, the wait staff at Herman’s are amazingly friendly and never seem to mind bringing me an extra bowl of salsa. Speaking of the wait staff, if you frequent Herman’s… heck, if you’ve only been once, you’d know exactly what I’m talking about when I say that they’re some of the nicest folks around. Regardless of how busy they are, you’re always greeted with a warm smile and made to feel welcome.
Despite the large amount of salsa and crackers I take down, I make sure to leave room for the main course which is always top-notch. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and can confidently say that from the Spanish Omelet to the Herman’s Rib Eye and everything in between, there’s not a single item that would fail to make your mouth(and stomach) happy.
Now, we all know that Herman’s is known for great hand-cut steaks and juicy, tender ribs, but what you may not know is that they also have one of the best burgers in town. And to top it off, you can’t leave Herman’s without having had a side of hash browns. Take my word for it, you won’t regret it.
In addition to a unique atmosphere inside, Herman’s also offers a great deck that’s good for enjoying some drinks on a warm, sunny day.
All in all, Herman’s is a great place to go when you’re craving a good meal. The atmosphere combined with the friendly wait staff help to make Herman’s a unique and enjoyable experience for both you and your stomach.

I had a very disappointing experience that last time I went to Herman’s. Worse yet? It was my birthday dinner. The salad was nasty, brown, and watery. No server came by to check on us so that we could have gotten new salads. The steak I ordered came with obviously frozen and fried, dried out little hash brown chunks. That was it. Meat and frozen hash browns. The steak itself was alright but when everything else about the meal was so wrong, all I could think was that I could’ve just gone down the street to Richard’s, bought a ribeye for 1/3 the price and cooked it myself.

The best thing I’ve had at Herman’s (in the three or four times I have been there) is the steak sandwich. For about $12, you get pieces of the expensive steak that are well-cooked and tasty, plus fries. Problem is that everyone seems to know this is a great deal and they sell out all the time. The cheese steak sandwich is pretty tasty as well. The salsa and crackers schtick is just confusing.
Disclosure: My landlord owns Herman’s.

Ever since they put in the flat screen TVs, that place has been going downhill.

The garlic chicken breast is the best.
