Weekend: Feb 27, 28, Mar 1

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to officially proclaim that live music in Fayetteville is back. Back with a vengeance.

All of a sudden, everywhere I look there’s a band I want to see, and most nights, multiple shows I wish I could go to.

There are new bands cropping up left and right here in Fayetteville, and we’re getting some pretty incredible national acts coming to town on what seems like a daily basis. There’s ton’s of good music going on this weekend, as well as a ton of other stuff as well to keep your mind off the crappy economy, the crappy Razorback basketball team, your crappy childhood, or any other crappy thing that might have you down. Weekend!

Tonight, 3 Penny Acre will be showcasing their unbelievable talent at the Good Folk House. For those of you who haven’t seen these guys, I highly recommend checking them out ASAP (tonight).

George’s has “It’s all about the Benjamin’s” with Benjamin Del Shreve and the Ben Miller Band. If you like Bens, you’ll love George’s tonight.

Also tonight, the band with the best name ever Crazy Neighbor will be at the Boom Boom Room, and 1oz Jig will be funkin’ up the Smoke and Barrel.

Crazy jugglers The Passing Zone will be at the Walton Arts Center, and there’s baseball at 3:05 this afternoon at Baum Stadium as Arkansas hosts Western Illinois.

Tomorrow night, Alt-Country/Americana band Son Volt will be coming back to George’s. They have a new album dropping in May, and it’s freakin Jay Farrar, man. ‘Nuff said.

At the Smoke and Barrel, Eclipse Glasses, the Good Fear and Jacob Enwood will play. The show is a benefit for American Princes bass player Luke Hunsicker.

Also on Saturday, it’s supposed to freakin’ snow, but there is a baseball game at Baum Stadium. The Razorbacks play Western Illinois again at 1:05.

On Sunday, the saddest basketball team in the SEC (Arkansas) will host the second saddest basketball team in the SEC (Georgia) at Bud Walton Arena. Nolan Richardson will be on hand as the ’94 National Championship basketball team will be honored at halftime, so that may be worth checking out.
