Just finished eating there today. It was awesome. I have travelled to India and have eaten Indian food there as well as in Europe. This is the closest I have ever found in the US. After speaking with the Chef, it turns out he learned Indian cuisine in England (any fan of Indian food knows that this is the best place in the world to have Indian cuisine). Great job! Great food! Greater naan!

@yo. Again with the snobbery. Hating on Lucky Lukes for using white bread, and now Ella's for offering Indian food. I have enjoyed a few Tuesday Indian Buffets in the past month and my only complaint is the crowd of people (including many Indians) eating all the naan. I wait patiently on the next batch and take in all of the wonderful smells of fresh and tasty Indian cuisine for only 10 bucks!!!

Bland. Everything seemed to be missing two or three ingredients, something. I'm glad someone's trying to make a (limited) go with Indian Food in NWA again, just wish it didn't taste so soul-less, like food that would be served at a rest home.
Everything seemed fresh and clean = BIG PLUS, but BLAND is not what I expect for Indian cuisine.
Indians live in NWA, why not ask them what's missing? Learn the cuisine or don't serve it.
Big ditto on the "Naan" not really being Naan. Something you would politely shove to the side of your plate in your stuffwhitepeoplelike.com friends' house.
I will try it again. At least I won't get sick. But what a wasted opportunity if they don't learn to properly prepare Indian Cuisine.
Tulsa and Little Rock are not that far away if we have to... (Note to chef: YOU should drive to try REAL Indian Food in Tulsa and Little Rock, so we don't have to drive there everytime we want decent Indian Food.)

I went on Saturday, and as a vegetarian I was very happy with the selection. There is more on the buffet than India Palace for vegetarians, in fact the selection is larger. The rice was just fine. I will say that India Palace would be where I would eat for the rest of my life, but since it's 2 hours away, that wouldn't make much sense. There were also three kinds desserts! And various chutneys and sauces, soup, and two kinds of basmati. And the chef came and talked to us and asked what we would like to see on the menu. I'd say that's pretty awesome.

And for people averse to eating at Ella's (I know I was since I used to work there) the service was really warm and friendly, not high-falutin' at all.

Not sure where you ate "Food critic", seems like you are trying to promote another restaurant to me. Why be jealous of others success? This is a good thing, great food, service, and a nice change in the Fayetteville restaurant world.

Mushy Basmati rice (worst I've ever had)
Bland dishes (spices not fresh)
Limited vegetarian choices
Naan (Indian flatbread) not even close to the real thing
Expensive. I left hungry and disappointed.

NOT RECOMMENDED. My worst Indian food experience ever.

If you want to know what Indian food should taste like, check out India Place in Tulsa (see link below).

a. brown. I will be serving three vegetarian curries this saturday; curried okra and cauliflower, roasted veggie curry, and kidney bean curry. Other vegetarian options saturday will include; garlic cilantro naan, onion bhajias, cucumber salad, tomato coriander soup, dill and cardamom basmati, yogurt and jaggery, sesame fried bananas, and spiced fruit. I will also make a south indian shrimp curry, (lamb)rojan josh(now with more spice), tandoori chicken, and chicken saag. If you happen to make it to ella's saturday, please ask for bill, i gladly accept any input especially on my vegetarian options.

I've been holding off on going back, since the couple times I went the rice was way overcooked and mushy. If that was Basmati, I'm confused.

There were a couple dishes that were pretty good, but something about the food doesn't taste authentically Indian, like the gravy doesn't have the right mix of spice and depth of flavor.

The fried bananas are a monstrous win!

I'll head back in a couple weeks to see if things are better.
