To-do: Tuesday 6/9
It’s getting warmer and warmer outside which can mean only one thing. It’s waterslide time! Wait, we don’t have any waterslides around here, do we? Not any more.
Here’s a little morning trivia. The first person to comment with the correct answer wins a free Flyer shirt. Which current College Avenue business used to be the site of a hillside waterslide?
Tonight at Teatro Scarpino it’s jazz night with the McLeod/Burson Quartet. Have you ever heard Claudia Burson? If not, and you’re even only slightly into jazz, do yourself a favor and check her (and the rest of the trio) out sometime. Maybe tonight?
Are you a Connect Four whiz? Can you connect four really well? Are you better than average at aligning plastic discs in sets of four in a competitive environment within walking distance of Ward 2 Alderman Matthew Petty’s front door? If so, then Smoke & Barrel is your destination tonight. It’s Connect Four Tourney night. Make sure to sign up before 9pm. Winner gets bar credit.
What else-a is goin on-a? (Say that all Italiany just for fun)

Wasn’t there one where Gator Golf currently is? I might be totally making that up. Still have a Waka hangover.

Damn! I was torn between Gator Golf and Chuck’s Mini Golf. Couldn’t remember.
But while I was cheating and googling to try to find the answer, I found this:

Holy crap! You guys should get this guy on the payroll. I’ve never seen a more comprehensive outline of Fayetteville online before.

Whoa. That’s a bookmarker, for sure. Payroll?! Now that’s funny.

Haha. Yeah get me on that “payroll” too. LOL.
I really pulled that answer out of my ass. If I wasn’t in a Wakarusa induced haze I probably wouldn’t have had that instantaneous flashback from my toddler years.
I’ve been winning too much lately anyway. It’s cool with me if u do a random (drawing…not drug testing) for the free t-shirt to anyone who posts on this thread today.

OK. So far, it’s me, you and Dragon Lady. Your chances are looking good, so far, Dragon Lady.

@Me- They make great birthday gifts. Anniversary gifts, too. Or consolation prizes if you’re hosting a TV game show and need some extra parting gifts.

Yup, the answer is Gator Golf. Any comment on this thread, however, will enter you to win.

Isn’t there a bunch of little ones at the Wilson Park pool? I know there’s a bigger one at the ‘aquatic park’ in Prairie Grove.
At one point (maybe 10 years ago) they were talking about building a water park on Razorback, south of the baseball field.

There’s a pretty sweet water park in Springdale. Slides and diving boards and all kinds of fun stuff for kiddos to play on. So there. Springdale does have something going for it, though I’m sure that’s a bout it.

Scott Stapp of Creed – I’m not exactly sure what to say. Is my name vintage enough for you to think so or does my extreme wit match that of your old lady?
OR – WTF?

I’m too late, but I guessed Gator Golf in my head before I saw George’s post. I really had no idea, but it made sense with the big ass hill that GG is on. I can almost picture the slide there.

@Johnathan, you are not too late. We’re going to randomly pick a winner from anyone who posts on this thread until midnight tonight. Sort of an impromptu, kinda quiet, contest. We have contests so infrequently around here that we’re trying to step it up a bit. *sarcasm*

Crap, did you say quiet?
My bad.
Todd Gill

Naw, I said “Kinda quiet” as in, not really quiet at all. We just didn’t make a big deal out of it. It’s no secret.

If I win that t-shirt I’ll proudly wear it to establishments within walking distance of my front door.

I am not Matthew Petty but I also live within S&B walking distance. Just sayin’. Also, I had no idea there was ever a water slide in Fayetteville.

I remember going to the waterslide where Gator Golf used to be with the fam, way back in the day. They had those basic blue foamy mats and the water slide would scrape the crap out of your skin if you fell off. Man do I miss that…
Whatever happened to the plan of a waterpark for Fayetteville?

All of these mentions of Gator Golf seem repetitive, even though they are for a good cause.
Wichita used to have a water park called “Barnacle Bill’s Fanta-Sea”. After some serious remodeling, the site is now a Home Depot.
I always wondered if a Fanta-Sea was anything like a wet dream.
