Where are all the places with free Wi-Fi in Fayetteville?

June 10, 2009 5:25 pm · By Dustin · 21 Comments

A few months ago, Mayor Lioneld Jordan expressed his desire to eventually bring free Wi-Fi to the entire city of Fayetteville.

But we’re not there yet.

Still, there are tons of restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and businesses around town that already have free wireless internet, but as far as I know there isn’t a comprehensive list of all of them in one place. Yet.

The fact is, sometimes it’s nice to get out of the office for a while to get some work done. Or your freakin’ router craps out. Or the e-bay auction on that sweet Cindy Crawford poster you’ve been bidding on is ending in 5 minutes, and you’re stuck in traffic on College Avenue.

Whatever the reason, sometimes you need a place to get on the worldwide interlex, and the purpose of this post is to identify the businesses in town that we know of that offer free Wi-Fi, add the places that you guys know of, and then we’ll take that knowledge and create a resource that we can all use to find out where the nearest spot is.

Here’s what I have so far:
Arsaga’s Gregg
Arsaga’s Crossover
Atlanta Bread Company
Buffalo Wild Wings
Camille’s at the Fayetteville Athletic Club
Chick-Fil-A on College
Chick-Fil-A on MLK
Common Grounds
Crown Pub
Fayetteville Public Library
Fayetteville Visitors Bureau
Flying Burrito on College
Flying Burrito on Spring St.
George’s Majestic Lounge
Grubs
Gusano’s on Wedington
Hardee’s on College
Hastings Cafe
Inn at Carnal Hall (Ella’s Restaurant)
Inta Juice
Jammin’ Java on the Square
Lightbulb Club
Malco Razorback Cinema
Mellow Mushroom
Panera Bread Company
The Perk
Qdoba
Robert James Salon
Slim Chickens
Smiling Jacks
Smoke and Barrel Tavern
Subway on Futrall
Tangerine/
Taco Bell on College
Taco Bell on Joyce
Taco Bell on MLK
Trailside Cafe and Tea Room
Washington Regional Medical Center

That’s a pretty good list. Thanks to those of you who contributed to the list on Facebook. So, what do you say Fayetteville? Who else in Fayetteville has free Wi-Fi?

In Springdale (if you don’t mind the contribution): Hardee’s, Krystal Burger and The Pontiac on North Thompson Street (U.S. 71B); Schlotzky’s on Sunset Avenue (U.S. 412); there may be others by now.

Are you sure everything in that list has free wifi? The last time I tried to use the “free” wifi in a McDonald’s (in another town) it was actually a pay-by-the-day hotspot.

As far as I know, all the places on the list have free WiFi. Feel free to correct me, though.

The last time I looked, the wifi at Pontiac was free for two hours with a purchase. Not unreasonable–I like it there–but not what I think of as free.

McDonald’s is free if you are an ATT DSL customer, but normally costs like $3 for 2 hours.

Thanks for the input, guys. Let’s stick with places in Fayetteville for now, and we’ll leave out places that charge (sorry McDonalds. “Free to ATT DSL customers” doesn’t count as free)

An FYI on Panera’s WiFi. From 11-2 you only get 30 minutes of service. Ayytime before or after that is unlimited. I found out today as I was doing on-line algebra for more than 30 minutes at 1130. Double Fail. Other than the 11-2 “Peak Hour Policy” Panera’s WiFi is top notch.
