Where are the swimming spots in Fayetteville?
I’ve lived in Fayetteville long enough to know that the current heat wave we’re experiencing is nothing compared to what we’ve got ahead of us over the next two months or so. For those new to the area, sorry dude, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
That said, it’s freakin’ hot out there people, real hot.
You could have a frozen margarita (or three) at Jose’s and brain-freeze yourself cool. Or you could fill your bathtub with meats from the freezer, and waller around in there for a while.
But the best thing to do when it’s hotter than a hot sauce sandwich made of fire from hell is to pack up the ice chest, put on your speedo, and hop in a pool somewhere.
The question is, if you’re not lucky enough to have a pool of your own, or a friend with a pool, or a friend with an apartment with a pool, where do you go in Fayetteville to cool off?
There is only one public pool that I know of in Fayetteville, and that’s the Wilson Park pool. Lake Wedington West of town has a swimming area. There are also plenty of lakes outside of town, and there’s a nice waterpark in my hometown in Prairie Grove, but what we’d like to know is, what are your favorite swimming spots in Fayetteville? Is there an apartment pool somewhere in town that’s open to the public? Is there a hotel in the area with lax security?
Outside of Wilson Park, where do you go to beat the heat?

Does the Wilson Pool do movie nights? Does anyone in down do outdoor movie nights (aside from the drive-in)?

I can’t see the full story about secret swimming holes in Fayetteville…am I just losing it or is there a glitch?

@Alishia – There was a glitch indeed. Thanks for pointing that out. It should be fixed now.

Sweet. Thanks Brian.
Short-round and I will be there for Kung Fu Panda fo sho. “There is no charge for awesomeness…or attractiveness.”
@ckb – No one I know of in Fay does outdoor movies besides Drive In / Dive In. Lucky 13 in Eureka Springs has them each weekend. They do a really good job of keeping it fun. Movie-based costumes encouraged!
Did anyone else make the trek down to the swimming hole at Waka? Man is it badass. About a 12′ waterfall down to a super cold pool. It was well worth the booze sweating, almost heart attack inducing hike out (up).
