Contest: NWA Rollergirls tickets

This Saturday, August 15th, the Northwest Arkansas Rollergirls home team, The Backwoods Betties will battle against the Green Country Rollergirls home team, The Thunder Dollz from Tulsa, Oklahoma and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away here on the Flyer.

Saturday’s will be the last home bout of the 2009 season, and the last bout to take place in the regular Springdale location. Next year the NWA Rollergirls will be roughing it up at the new Starlight Skatium currently under construction on College Avenue in Fayetteville.

If you haven’t been to a local women’s flat-track roller derby event yet, you better do so now if you want to say you “were there when…” because come October 9th, it’ll be a lot more popular thanks to Drew Barrymore’s new roller derby movie, Whip It!.

How to enter
Just leave a comment and tell everyone your best excuse for not getting out and seeing the NWA Rollergirls yet. If you have been to a bout, don’t freak out, just say so. You’ll still be entered. You’ve got until noon tomorrow (Aug 11).

What you’ll win
If your comment is randomly drawn, you’ll get two tickets to this Saturday’s (August 15) bout at 7pm inside Roller City in Springdale.

A few rules (read ‘em carefully):

You may only enter this specific contest once.
This contest is open to anyone anywhere except Fayetteville Flyer writers and their immediate family members.
Contest is open until 12:00pm (noon) CST on Tuesday, August 11, 2009.
Make sure you leave a valid e-mail address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won.
You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and a mailing address so we can get your tickets to you.

I have the best excuse of all, haha. I’m broke and this economy is terrible for those who are job hunting. 10$ somehow became a lot of money in the last year or so.

Because they’ve been in Springdale and it’s against my religion to spend any more time in Springdale than the amount it takes to drive through it.

But I’ve been to a few afterparties! Those girrrrls are awesome! And they throw a great party!

I’ve been to a Rollergirls match ONCE – but when they changed locations I lost track and have missed the last several. It breaks my heart to have missed them so, and am really excited that I might have the opportunity to go again! My “sweetie” has never been (her choice), and when her favorite actress’ movie comes out, she’ll punch me for not taking her sooner.

For my well being, and personal enjoyment, I really need the tickets!

I haven’t been yet because I got tackled by one of the NWA Roller Girls at a Roller Girls benefit at The Dart Room a couple years ago, broke my back, and haven’t been able to walk until…today. Now I can go. So please pick me.

I haven’t gone yet because I have a long-established fear of roller skates and violence. The only way to overcome the fear is to face it……or in this case spectate.
