To-do: Tuesday 8/25
Back in March, we attempted to interview Philadelphia-based Hermit Thrushes only to have our questions altered by the band before being answered. It ended up being a better interview than we expected. We didn’t end up making it out to their show. I can’t remember why, but apparently we missed out because according to the comments left on that post, they were badical to the maxx. Also in the comments, Sam the drummer got called a “NARC/SNITCH” by someone named “hal.” Weird.
Tonight, Hermit Thrushes returns to Fayetteville with Lindsay Rae Spurlock Graffiti Monsters and Circle Birds at Smoke & Barrel.
Also playing tonight are What Army at The Gypsy, Effron White at Smiling Jack’s and The Ray Johnston Band at George’s.
If you think that’s all, you=wrong, buddy:
- George’s: Ray Johnston Band
- Gypsy on College: What Army
- Nightbird Books: Ozark Poets and Writers Collective
- Pesto Cafe: Darren Ray
- Smoke & Barrel Tavern:
Lindsay Rae SpurlockGraffiti Monsters, Circle Birds, Hermit Thrushes - Teatro Scarpino: McLeod/Burson Jazz Quartet
- Smiling Jack’s: Effron White
- Jose’s: Traveling Wheelbearings
- Courtyard by Marriott: A+ Stronger Fayetteville presentation at Wash. Co. Democratic Women’s meeting 5:30pm

Best band name I’ve heard in a while: Traveling Wheelbearings.

@todd – thanks for the mention. hope to see you tonight. and yes, that NARC/SNITCH article was an odd one.
Lindsay Rae will not be appearing tonight, but the Hermit Thrushes are touring with a band called Graffiti Monsters.

Yeah man, the whole “narc/snitch” issue was pretty weird. I read that article hal linked, and it seemed like the whole situation was kinda surreal, definitely made me glad I live in a town where the fuzzy-decision-making debates are over tricycles… (Sorry, Matt, had to throw it in there…)
Hermit Thrushes definitely rock it live, and their first album “Benaki” is pretty stout.
