1Sky Arkansas and Clean Air Arkansas lead green energy push

On Friday, around 45 people marched on Dickson St. in support of Clean Energy and Green Jobs in Arkansas.

1Sky Arkansas and Clean Air Arkansas organized the rally on the heels of the announcement that they had gathered signatures from 60 Arkansas small businesses and community leaders asking Senator Blanche Lincoln and Senator Mark Pryor to support a comprehensive clean energy jobs bill in the U.S. Senate this fall.

The Arkansas letter is part of a larger release of over 1,000 small business leaders throughout the country who are asking Congress for a comprehensive clean energy jobs bill.

β€œA clean energy jobs bill will ensure that American businesses stay competitive with the rest of the world,” said Dan Dean of Robert Sharp Architect Inc. in Fayetteville, who signed the letter. β€œIt is very important that Congress knows the connection between clean energy investments and domestic jobs.”

Participants at the rally on Friday carried signs that read “I’m Ready,” “Climate Action Now,” “2 Million Clean Energy Jobs Now,” and others. Several plan to travel to Senator Blanch Lincoln’s Townhall tours in Little Rock, N. Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Jonesboro this week.
