Giveaway: The Wedding Singer

This giveaway is now closed.

While most of our downtown has been preparing for one of the largest bike rallies in the world, Walton Arts Center has been prepping to host The Wedding Singer’s cast and crew for 10 days as they debut the very first performance of the show’s national tour right here in Fayetteville.

In other words, you could be one of the first in the nation to see the new production of a Broadway hit. And if you win this giveaway, your tickets will be on the house.

The musical is based on the 1998 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and it’s crammed with 80s pop-culture. With 80s pop-culture comes 80s music and with 80s music comes a feeling that is indescribable in so many ways, both good and bad.

How to enter
Just leave a comment telling us which musical artist or band best sums up 80s music to you. It doesn’t have to be a one-hit wonder or an 80s-only icon. In other words, they can still be around and relevant. It’s your feeling so there’s no wrong answer. Here at the Flyer, we chose Cyndi Lauper. There’s just something about her voice, her dance moves, the drum machines and of course, this video, that scream the 80s. What about you?

What you’ll win
One entrant will win two tickets to the Monday, Sept. 28 performance of The Wedding Singer at the Walton Arts Center at 7pm.

The rules

  • You only may enter this specific giveaway once.
  • This giveaway is open to anyone anywhere except staff of Fayetteville Flyer or Walton Arts Center.
  • The giveaway is open until 10:00pm CST on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 and the random winner will be contacted shortly afterwards. Make sure you leave a valid email address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won.
  • You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and then be prepared to show a valid photo ID when picking up your tickets.

To purchase tickets and for more information on this performance, visit waltonartscenter.org.

Van Halen….1984

The band that most says the eighties to me(especially in reference to The Wedding Singer) is Culture Club. They had the hair, the makeup, and the hit songs. Guys and girls liked them and they both dressed like them. They had everything that encompassed the eighties all wrapped up into one including that healthy dose of sexual ambiquity the eighties bands were so well known for any way. Well, maybe not so ambigous after all. Although, I did know some girls with crushes on Boy George.
