Township closed to through traffic Wednesday, Sept. 23

The City of Fayetteville’s Transportation Division will close Township Street from College Avenue to Old Wire Road to through traffic on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.

According to a press release, accommodations will be made for those who need direct access to a residence or business on that section of the street.

Warning sign

The street closure will begin at 8:30am Wednesday morning and continue through the remainder of the workday in order to finalize roadway preparation for an asphalt overlay which is scheduled to take place next week.

The closed section of Township will be reopened when work is completed on Wednesday afternoon but city officials ask that you please anticipate using an alternate route during the day.

Additionally, construction for a water line began in Gulley Park yesterday which will consist of a bore under Niokaska Creek that runs through the park. Lane closures off Old Wire Road will be required to facilitate the work.

Gulley Park will not be closed during construction. However, portions of the trail will be rerouted during the construction period.

All construction is expected to be completed in December 2009.

That’s okay. I never use that street anyway. I only use 6th street to visit the new Chick Fil A.
