Back in July, we reported that a new independent film festival will make its debut in Fayetteville this fall.

Just a few months later, the festival has a name (540 Film Festival), a website, and this week it will announce the films to be screened in the first year of the 3 1/2 day festival taking place on the Fayetteville Square Nov. 5-8.

The announcement party is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Soul Restaurant and Lounge in Fayetteville. Tickets are $10 and will include the attendee’s first drink. Proceeds from the announcement party will benefit 540 Film Fest.

According to a release, the announcement on Wednesday will include “features, documentaries, and shorts from all over the nation and four different countries,” as well as films written, produced, or directed by film makers with Northwest Arkansas connections.

Weekend passes and tickets to the festival are expected to go on sale on the festival website on Oct. 8.

Well I wish they had announced they were taking submissions.
