To-do: Wednesday 11/4

Have you ever considered learning how to square dance? Quit lying. Everyone’s a little bit curious, right? Of course, not everyone will get up the courage to try it in their lifetime, but I’ll bet that deep down inside, even the grouchiest of grouches wouldn’t mind bouncing around inside a barn.

If you’re ready to give it a shot (sans barn), tonight’s your chance. Teatro Scarpino is hosting free square dance lessons with music from Shout Lulu. There’s absolutely no experience necessary and according to Shout Lulu’s Paul McGowen, instructor Matt Cartier “learned from the old-timers in Missouri and is an expert at teaching beginners.” If you’re trying to picture how this’ll work out, scroll on down and check out a video of Shout Lulu playing a square dance at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle.

Over at Smoke & Barrel Tavern tonight is Scott Leeper (Ben Miller Band), George’s has Ryan Montbleau Band and Greenhouse Grille’s got 3 Penny Acre who are heading off to the 62nd Annual Ozark Folk Festival in Eureka Springs tomorrow.

Choices, choices, choices…

Greenhouse Grille: 3 Penny Acre
George’s: Ryan Montbleau Band
Teatro Scarpino: Shout LuLu
Ella’s: Jazz on the Hill
Smoke & Barrel Tavern: Scott Leeper

Everything I said before was true! Lots of folks turned out, but it wasn’t completely packed. Still plenty of room for those of you who missed a good time to catch the next one! Thanks to Shout Lulu for the music and Matt Cartier for the calling and instruction. It was a blast!
